New School Gates and Fences

As everyone is aware the security of the campus is being improved. During the inspection Mr R Davies (Reporting H.M.I) informed as that the safety of the site was a problem. At one point the Estyn team were debating whether to fail the school in terms of safeguarding and there was a clear instruction to improve security. The main issue is the footpath from Severn Road to Park Avenue and the potential risk this poses. There was a very clear instruction to eliminate and not just manage the risk. I have contacted the planning department who have clarified that this path is not and never was a public footpath. I have discussed with the Director of Children’s Services and the Governing Body the matter as to how to secure the site. There has been some concern from a few residents but I feel the security of children is more important than a short cut to town. I realise this is a change for all of us but I trust you will agree with me that ultimately the security of our children is paramount.
