Looked After Children (parents / carers)
Welcome to Porthcawl Comprehensive School! We hope you will be happy and successful during your child’s time with us. This leaflet is to try and explain what you can expect from the school as the carer / guardian of a Looked After Child.
The school has two members of staff with particular responsibility for Looked After Children. They are:
- Deputy Head Teacher: Miss C-A Painter
[email protected] - Key Worker: Mrs E Dancer
[email protected]
Miss Painter and Mrs Dancer will be key people for your child in school and will link in regularly with you, your child and your social worker. One or both of us will attend all your review meetings and Mrs Dancer in particular will be the person you can go to if you or your child have any concerns or need help with anything.
Mrs Dancer will probably arrange to meet with your child once a week/fortnight to see what support we can offer with school work or anything else!
Miss Painter and/or Mrs Dancer will also try to meet with you and your child once a term to review your child’s PEP (Personal Education Plan) and look at their achievements and targets.
When you join us it is important that you tell us exactly what you want other staff to know about your individual circumstances. Who we tell and what we share is really important and we would only want to share information if you are comfortable with this. We will also ask you about where you want to hold your review meetings and who you would like to attend.
If ever you need to find one of us the best place to go is Student Support.
